Tactical Play in H2H Matches
Although we’re not in manager mode, we can still play tactically with good skills. Here are the main tactics H2H players use:
- Possession Play
- Counter Attack
- Slow Buildup (Playmaker)
- Inside Forward (Wingers vs. All Defense)
- Cross Spam
For the most-used formations in FC Mobile 24, the 4-2-3-1 narrow and 4-3-3 holding are likely the most effective for top players.
We will explain how the tactics work. It’s simple and easy to understand.
The Tactics
1. Possession Play
Possession play relies heavily on wingers and fullbacks. They will dribble down the sides, control the ball, and pass to the striker once they find a good opportunity to cut inside. It’s similar to using an inverted winger, but different because the main finisher is the striker.
How do they control it?
Some players play a bit defensively, controlling the ball until the match is about to end. This gives them a 0% chance of losing and more advantage in attack.
I don’t suggest this tactic because you must have a lot of experience to manage the pressure from opponents. But once mastered, it makes you almost unstoppable.
Note: This tactic is often seen as “ratty” or annoying. For example, Soham10, one of the best players of all time with 1.55M cups in ISC history, is rated as one of the most annoying players due to using this tactic and cross spam back in FIFA Mobile.
2. Counter Attack
This is the most popular tactic that almost every FC 1 player knows how to use. It’s simple but challenging.
This tactic works best with 2 or 3 strikers (especially in a 4-2-3-1 narrow formation) due to the extreme pace and the difficulty defenders have in stopping them.
It’s simple: pass to the attacker before the opponent’s midfield recovers, and use a skill move immediately once the opponent’s two center-backs leave a small gap. Even a tiny space can lead to a goal.
However, this tactic also requires a lot of luck. You might face defenders who can’t be stunned, or your attackers might struggle to perform under pressure.
Note: Research suggests there’s a factor in H2H matches that determines whether your players will perform well.
If you master this tactic with top players like R9, Cruyff, Isak, or Ginola, who have incredible stun in H2H, it gives you a higher chance to score and win.
Other important note: Ensure your players are very, very good. Check the top 10 ST or LW list on the Discord player review site. The selected players have insane stun abilities in-game to ensure you can perform well.
3. Slow Build-Up (Playmaker)
This tactic is very similar to possession play, but it offers more attacking options.
The key position in this tactic is the midfielder, who will control the team’s possession and pass to whichever player has a good opportunity (a risk).
However, they may also dribble with the wingers at times.
This tactic provides more attacking opportunities than possession play, but if not mastered, it can lead to trouble against counter-attacking players.
Still, it offers a lower chance for opponents to score and gives a better advantage in scoring, though it’s not the best tactic.
4. Inside Forward
This is the second most popular tactic and can be used with a counter-attack.
However, it depends entirely on the winger. If you have a great winger like Mbappe, Leao, or Nico, then it requires less skill.
The tactic works like this: during a counter-attack, if you don’t rely on your striker due to slow pace or lack of stun, or if he isn’t the best option for a counter-attack, pass to the winger. As you approach the box, you’ll likely face 2-4 defenders—one fullback, one center-back, and possibly others from the opponent’s midfield.
It’s simple: time the skill move well (don’t rush too often, as it can lead to worse situations), and it’s usually an easy goal.
5. Cross Spam
I won’t explain much here because this tactic relies on the game’s script.
But it’s simple: cross with the winger and fullback.
